Background

"Young people have as much to say about societal problems and potential remedies as others do. They should play a role in decision making that is recognized as important."
“WE ARE NOT ONLY THE FUTURE BUT ALSO THE PRESENT...”

Young people have a legitimate demand to be heard, to express themselves, moreover it is imperative that their valuable contribution to society be recognized.

Young people are the present, their involvement is a necessity for human development and sustainability the strongest demand expressed today by young people themselves.

Young People should be given the opportunity and guidance to prove their ability in creating beneficial and lasting social change in their communities through active participation in service opportunities by focusing on good practice and advance quality innovation.

Young people should be a priority target group for UNESCO action plans. The capacities of young people must be developed so that they may evolve from childhood to adulthood and become both responsible and active

The final resolution of the 6th UNESCO Youth Forum 2009, Paris, France called upon UNESCO to provide further space to enable youth to effectively participate by making follow up on their recommendations and to put them in action, the established Youth Desk at the UNESCO National Commission is one such opportunity for Youth to make consistent follow ups on the recommendations and to access resources and support to the different initiatives
